Perfumes, colognes, body lotion & cleaning products

The list of products that trigger most of us to have a reaction could go on and on. I feel like nowadays there are so many new products on the market that have a ton of chemicals in them. Are you extremely sensitive to any of;

Perfumes
Colognes
Body lotions
Hairspray
Soap
Shower gel
Scented candles
Air freshners
Cleaning products
Laundry detergent
Dryer sheets

And this list could go on and on! Dryer sheets have been giving a tough time lately, not because I use them, but because the other house tenants decided to buy scented/perfumed ones. I have found an eau de toilette, that is more natural than most, and I use it once in a while, without having much of a reaction. I do find it really really hard to be next to people who are covered in it; on the bus or in other public places. The good news is that more and more companies and establishments appear to be adopting the “no scents/perfume” policy, which is great news for anyone like me, who is sensitive to them. I usually cough and have a tight chest. Anyone else notice what these products with lots of chemicals and strong scents do to them? Itchy skin from the soap perhaps?

  1. I have noticed that when visiting people that use strong air fresheners in their homes that I am irritated by them. I feel the need to go outside for some clean air and if I am exposed over longer periods I develop a headache that can quickly change into a migraine.
