Sometimes feeling down can be fairly inevitable. Maybe it was incredibly uncalled for. You were getting ready for an awesome evening out with friends, you get all dressed up for a night out after dinner… And boom. You react to something. Perhaps it’s a you never had before, or you forgot to take your antihistamines so pet dander throws you off and you are just sneezing out of control. Maybe you stay home, drowsy on antihistamines, maybe you go out anyways…
I would be lying if I said; ” I NEVER get the allergy blues “. I’ve caught them on occasion. Usually when I end up missing out on something. I’ve caught myself saying ” it would be so different if I didn’t have these allergies, wouldn’t have to miss out… ” or any other version of that. I think most of us have been there. And depending on the circumstances and the people you are with, it can take minutes, even seconds to “snap out of it ” or it could drag on longer. I’ve got to say, I am fortunate to be surrounded by some awesome friends and family, who can bring me back to my senses pretty quickly. Sometimes all you need is a quick ” reality check ”
What do you do when you are feeling blue? I know I like to go for a walk, or a bike ride or listen to music really loud and try to ” zone out ” while other times all I really need is a hug. What is your coping strategy? Does talking it through with someone you trust help? Maybe writing your thoughts down on paper will feel more relieving. We all have different work-arounds and each one is unique in it’s own way.
How about sitting down and coming up with an action-plan. Or even dreaming one up in your head? I know for me, organization is KEY. When I have a plan, I’m in business!
